Google Changed the Rules Again

text-google-adwordsGoogle AdWords changed their U.S. trademark policy to allow advertisers to bid on, and include trademarked terms in advertisements.

Google explains the changes here.

While your ad may have limited serving in the U.S. under the new policy, ads approved under the new U.S. trademark policy that are not authorized by the trademark owner will not run on other Google domains. You should continue to request authorization from the trademark owner for terms you’d like to use in your text which would be eligible to run on other Google sites outside of the U.S. Please contact the trademark owner directly to request an authorization to use the term in the text. Advertisers are still responsible for the ad text and keywords they choose under this policy, per Google’s Terms and Conditions. If you’re unsure whether you’re allowed to use a trademark in your AdWords ads, please consult with your attorney.
